Documenting the Athletics – From Philadelphia, to Kansas City, to Oakland and Finally to Fremont

My name is Roland Reynolds and I’ll be covering the Oakland Athletics for the Baseball Historians network. Oakland not only made it further in the playoffs then they have since they lost to the Blue Jays in the 1992 ALCS and while they lost their ace, Barry Zito, and their best hitter in Frank Thomas, the A’s should still be right there at or near the top of the AL West in one of the most competitive division in baseball.
Like the other sites in the Baseball Historians network, I’ll not only be covering the present day A’s but I’ll be taking a look at the team’s rich history. With colorful personalities like Connie Mack, Charlie Finley and Reggie Jackson, there will be plenty to cover and I’m thinking abouve taking a look at Connie Mack’s career by doing a season by season retrospective of the A’s teams that he managed.
The A’s have also been on the mre mobile teams in baseball. They started in Philadelphia before moving to Kansas City then Oakland. And then in 2011, they’ll be moving one more time as they move into Cisco Field in Fremont, CA. So I’m hoping to have fun with this site and hopefully you’ll stop by and check things out.
